Everybody wants to be healthy, right? Although there are some
things we can't control about our health, there are many things
we can. By developing healthy habits that we practice on a daily
basis, we can tip the odds in our favor for living a long and vibrant
life.

Quote:Drink you daily allowed water consumption. Most people don't
drink nearly enough water to properly hydrate their bodies. If you
simply consider the fact that the human body is about 75% water, it
helps to understand the importance of drinking the recommended daily
amount that's allowed for you.

Eat less food more often. It's better to eat five or six small meals and
snacks (eat every three hours throughout the day) to keep the
metabolism going. Include a protein and what your diet permits.
This will also help prevent glycemic (blood sugar) spikes that can lead to
weight gain.

Get moving. There’s no way around it—if you really want to get and stay
healthy, exercise is a key factor. Research has proven that consistent
aerobic exercise prevents obesity and insulin resistance that can lead to
type 2 diabetes. Exercise has proven to be just as effective as a particular
oral diabetic medication in sensitizing the insulin receptor sites to allow
glucose into the cells and you don’t need a prescription! Of course, the
benefits of exercise reach much farther, including cardiovascular health,
stress reduction, muscle toning, and sleep enhancement.

Get your sleep. Sleep rejuvenates cells and helps in the healing process
and also helps to maintain and boost the immune system (e.g., the chances
of catching a cold increase if you haven’t had a sufficient amount of sleep).
Lack of sleep also leads to stress, which leads to increased cortisol release,
which leads to weight gain. How much is enough? For most adults,
approximately 7-8 hours of sleep a night is about right.

I got this as email sometime back

Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to 'schedule'

Because :

Evening at 9 - 11 PM : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes).
This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1 am : is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3 am : detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5 am : detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am : detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9 am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you
should be having breakfast at this time.
Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30 am , for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30 am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits,
and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10 am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late. Kfd6
for extra food safety....

A good reason to wash packaged lettuce

Quote:Washing lettuce is a weird little pet peeve of mine. It’s one of those annoying life tasks I’d rather do without. So, I tend to use bags of pre-washed lettuce for my salads—I just tear them open, throw the lettuce in a bowl and voila: Instant salad, no washing or spinning required.

But now this article from the Montreal Gazette has gone ahead and burst my salad-bag bubble. It turns out that a study conducted by the U.S.-based Consumers Union (CU) found that 39 percent of salad bags tested showed the presence of several types of bacteria “found in the human digestive tract.” Ew.

While none of the samples tested positive for deadly bacteria such as Listeria Salmonella or E.coli, the CU is calling for stricter safety standards in the preparation of bagged greens (most of the bags of salad we eat here are produced in the U.S., reports the Gazette), while Canadian food safety experts are urging consumers to wash their greens.

Even though the CU acknowledges the bacteria found in the study won’t make people sick, I’m sufficiently grossed out by these findings. I guess it’s time to dust off my salad spinner and (grudgingly) wash my lettuce.

packaged or not I wash all fruits and veggies.
